Carisa Armstrong has a B.S. in Exercise Science from Texas State University and an MFA in Dance from Case Western Reserve University. Her work has been presented internationally including Performatica in Mexico, International Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland, the New York International Fringe Festival and the Asheville Fringe in North Carolina. Carisa serves as the Dance Science Program Director and an Associate Professor of Dance Science in the School of Performance, Visualization & Fine Arts at Texas A&M University. Carisa teaches undergraduate courses in modern dance technique, dance composition, dance production, Pilates, and several dance science courses. She has been heavily involved in the development of the Dance Science Program and the continual evaluation and revision of the curriculum. She also serves as a mentor for undergraduate researchers in dance science. These students are part of the LAUNCH program at Texas A&M University and often present their research at conferences nationally/internationally. Carisa's research is split between dance science and her creative scholarly activities. She has presented her research internationally/nationally at conferences such as the International Association for Dance Medicine and Science, Performing Arts Medicine Association, and National Dance Society. She served as a Board Member for the American College Dance Association for 6 years, as Secretary for the National Dance Association, and as Vice President of Dance for the Texas Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance twice. She currently serves as the Secretary for the American College Dance Association and Advisor to the Aggie Wranglers at Texas A&M University.
Christine Bergeron has a B.A. in Dance from the University of Akron, an MFA in Choreography and Performance from Florida State University and is currently seeking a PhD in Dance Science from the University of Wolverhampton.
Chris is certified in Pilates Mat through the advanced level and is an Associate Instructor for the Pilates Equipment work from the Physical Mind Institute and Balanced Body. Choreographically, she is interested in how the choreographer and performer are impacted by the integration of technology in dance performance; how dance and society intersect to help us come together as a community; and to push the boundaries of how dance is experienced by the audience. Her work has been presented throughout the nation in Ohio, Florida, North Carolina, New York, California, Illinois, Texas, Mexico, and at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland. Chris has received numerous awards for teaching including the Dance Master Educator award for College/University from the National Dance Society (NDS) and the Dance Educator of the Year from the Texas Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance (TAHPERD). She has also received the Honor Award from the TAHPERD for her choreographic and dance science research. Besides serving as the co-artistic director of BDC, Chris also serves as the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at Texas A&M University in the School of Performance, Visualization & Fine Arts.
